King County International Airport – Boeing Field ARFF Unit Streamlines Operations Using Emergency Reporting RMS

As a government agency and airport fire department, King County International Airport – Boeing Field ARFF Unit has unique needs and requirements for its reporting and records management, so they need a secure and comprehensive records management system (RMS) to manage their entire station – which they have found in Emergency Reporting (ER) software.

Before switching to ER’s web-based solution, the King County International Airport – Boeing Field ARFF Unit first tried another installed software. According to William Butterfield, Deputy/FF/EMS T.O. at King County International Airport – Boeing Field ARFF Unit, they quickly discovered that the system did not meet their needs. Deputy Butterfield said they were promised certain things that the software could do, but ultimately it fell short. After a couple of years of dealing with inadequate software, they decided to make the switch to ER’s RMS in 2013 and have been using it ever since.

Right off the bat, Deputy Butterfield says ER made a huge difference: “Some of the things that we do were completed using multiple other types of software systems in the past. Now with ER, we can complete these tasks under ‘one roof’ so to speak,” he said. “Also, ER did not require us to have the program downloaded onto a local server. This saved energy and time with any computer IT issues.”

When asked about the other benefits they’ve experienced since making the switch, Deputy Butterfield says there are many. A major one for them was the ease of use. “ER made it much easier for us to create simple, easy-to-read reports,” he said. “Overall, it is a very easy program to use; even some of the more complex abilities of ER are easy to learn.”
